Do I need to log in to use the site ?
No. At the moment we don’t have that functionality, and presently, see no need for it. The data and commentary we provide for UK holidaymakers to Orlando or, for instance, Disneyland Paris, is provided as-is. We’re not going to ask our viewers to register for the sake of it.
I posted a comment, why isn’t it visible ?
Hang tight ! We’ll have it, but for the sake of our server and to avoid bots posting random stuff on our comments sections, we have all comments manually vetted first. We don’t mind if you disagree in the comments section, that is, in a way, what it’s there for, but we want to avoid any Internet nonsense appearing. Any inflammatory, derogatory, abusive or otherwise unpleasant comments will be binned before visible.
Why do a lot of the hotel listings link over to booking sites, like Expedia, etc ?
To keep the site free to use and not lock content behind some paywall, we need to pay the bills somehow. Therefore we will be open in the fact that we use affiliate marketing links to help pay for the sites running costs. These are modest costs, but use of these links helps. By traversing a link to an affiliate, if you when purchase any package / booking from use of it, then we receive a slight commission. This does not in any way affect the price you might pay on that site. In addition, use of such programs enables us to make use of content, such as images etc, that we don’t have our own of. Any affiliate cookie acquired from the use of these links is managed by the vendor, we do not hold any data of our site visitors. Hope that makes sense.
Why aren’t you including my hotel or a hotel I know well in your listings ?
We’ll get there ! We like to curate the list, and well, frankly, we all have day jobs to do. Soon we hope to include a submission form for new sites for us to consider including.
Can you help me in planning, or at least, help me with the vast amount of information I’m finding, for my Orlando holiday ?
We plan to ! We are currently in the process of testing our first commercial element of the site, where you can book a video call session with one of some or all of us. This we hope will let us share our passions, pitfalls and do’s and dont’s with you to help you plan. So watch this space for that !
Why should I use your site over, say, the UK Disney Parks site or Universals, or Booking.com ?
Those are different sites that have a really good purpose of their own. We are not striving to compete with them in any way, in fact we’d love to partner with them (first things first though). MouseToWand is more about advice and guidance, knowledge sharing, showing off things you wouldn’t necessarily know to look for, and finding somewhere to stay based on what you specifically may find useful as a UK holidaymaker. So there’s some crossover sure, but you can’t book anything via us directly. We’re a portal, if you will, to everyone else. Or, at least that’s what we’re aiming for. 😊
How do you keep your travel advice (flights, driving, visa rules) up-to-date for UK travellers?
Why it’s a good question: Post-Brexit rules, flight routes, and driving regulations are constantly changing, especially for the EU (Paris) and the US (ESTA). UK users will worry about having outdated advice.
We will sim to include content that explains information from major government sources (e.g., FCDO, relevant US/EU bodies) are monitored and cited for official, non-negotiable rules (visas, passports). Additionally, our update frequency – we will always try to state, where possible, how often you review and refresh content related to volatile topics (e.g., “Flight guides are reviewed every quarter,” “Visa advice is checked monthly”).
Finally, from community feedback we welcome user feedback to help keep hotel details, local restaurant prices, and minor travel tips current. You can do this via comments pages on posts and many of our hotel listings.
The search for hotel locations seems a little limited ?
Yes we have plans to improve this, we just wanted to get the site running to a minimal viable state first. At the moment, it’s limited to just searching for “hotel” and the city locations we cover (Orlando, Paris, more to follow). We’ll be adding the ability to search in specific areas or certain features as soon as we can.
