American M&Ms (and where’s my caramel cold brew ?)

Why are M & M`s so good in America? I never really understood the whole idea of bringing home lots of food from your trip, it seemed like punishing yourself with foods that you cannot get in the UK. I would see haul videos and wonder why on earth you would fill your cases with food, especially when you only have so much room and there are plenty of Disney souvenirs you could buy.

This last trip however, things changed for me. I now understand why a person will go to multiple stores looking for a particular flavour of M & M.  The flavour which changed things for me was the mighty Caramel Cold Brew. I don`t even think I can do this flavour justice, it was just sweet chewy caramel, followed by a punch of coffee. For this Starbucks addicted woman (Caramel Frappuccino, with extra coffee, oat milk and no cream or drizzle in case you are wondering) they had the right level of sweet and bitter.

I made my family come with me to store after store trying to find these bad boys, the small shop at our hotel had them but they were only small bags and expensive. But alas I was unable to find them anywhere else so ended up buying as many bags as I could at the shop.

Why to the Americas have so many flavours of M&M`s, why can’t we get them in the UK? I can only imagine that there is some sort of ban on the colorants used, or the level of sugar, the response from M&M is that this is due to regulatory difference in Europe and the UK. You can buy them from various American Candy stores on the internet, but they are defiantly more expensive then I would like.

The peanut butter are an absolute must, the caramel are amazing and so much better than the Salted Caramel that have recently made their way to the UK. I didn`t even see the mint ones that are rumoured to be available. We also found a Peanut butter and Jelly version, which I will be honest didn`t appeal to me, that flavour combination has always seemed strange to me (although my husband did make PB and J sandwiches while we were away and raved about them, we have yet to see if the UK versions are the same). I never tried the pretzel flavour which in hindsight I regret.

In conclusion I now get why people bring these home with them and will ensure on future trips we have the luggage space to include them with the jumbo Stich and many Haunted Mansion goodies I brought home with me, and yes I will make my family come to every Target, CVS and Gas station we pass just to find that one amazing flavour!

We ended up bring home 3 large sharing bags of them bag and multiple small packs of the Cold Brew Caramel.
